Dr. Peter Levine stands as a distinguished figure in the field of Somatic Experiencing (SE)®, pioneering its evolution through a lifelong commitment to research and development. Possessing dual doctorates in Medical Biophysics and Psychology, Dr. Levine’s scholarly background underscores the rigor and depth of his contributions.
Notably, Dr. Levine lent his expertise as a stress consultant to NASA during the Space Shuttle’s developmental phase. Furthermore, he actively participated in the World Psychologists for Social Responsibility, leading initiatives aimed at addressing “large-scale disasters and ethno-political warfare.” His instructional footprint spans globally, encompassing roles as an educator at various treatment centers, hospitals, and pain clinics worldwide, including the Hopi Guidance Center in Arizona. Currently, he occupies the distinguished position of Senior Fellow at The Meadows Trauma and Addiction Treatment Center in Wickenburg, Arizona.
In his comprehensive thirty-five-year exploration of stress and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Dr. Levine has substantively contributed to scientific literature and popular publications. His seminal work, “Waking the Tiger – Healing Trauma,” a best-selling tome available in 20 languages, reflects his profound impact on a global scale.
